MANHATTAN, Kan. – A member of the Southeast of Saline FFA Chapter was recognized May 28 for having one of the best career development programs in the state at the 87th Kansas FFA Convention.
Casey Craver received a State FFA Proficiency Award in Beef Production Placement during the convention for outstanding accomplishments he has made in developing programs that will prepare him for a career in agriculture. This award is sponsored by McPherson County Feeders.
“The proficiency award program recognizes students for exceptional accomplishments and excellence in a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program. This program allows students to set goals and gain real-world experience in a chosen area of the agriculture industry.
Casey has been employed by Craver Cattle Company since 2011. This organization runs a cow/calf operation and raises show cattle. Casey has also worked for several other ranches and cattlemen to expand his knowledge and experience in the industry. Casey has learned about proper cattle handling techniques, advancements in livestock technology and herd health and nutrition. He plans on attending college and returning to his family’s cattle operation to focus on the nutrition and genetics of their herd.
Casey’s parents are Kevin and Carol Craver. His advisor is Johanna Ryckert.
