An attempted traffic stop early Saturday morning ends with the arrest of two people after a nearly half hour chase that began in Salina and ended in McPherson County.

Police Captain Chris Trocheck said at about 1:45 a.m., officers attempted to stop a car in the 1600 block of Beverly Drive, because the car owner, 36-year-old John W. Harper of Salina, had outstanding warrants.

The driver of the car, 28-year-old Cheyenne Kenyon of Salina, did not stop and led law enforcement on a chase that went onto I-135, I-70, and down 9th Street in Salina, before being brought to a stop with spikes on I-135 near McPherson by Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and McPherson County deputies.

The chase reached speeds of 80-100 mph on the interstates, and 50-60 mph on 9th street.

Kenyon, was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and driving while suspended. In addtion to the outstanding warrant, Harper was charged with conspiracy to flee and elude.
