Two children’s authors will visit Salina Public Library in conjunction with its Summer Reading Program. Annette Karr, author of “Wink, the One-Eyed Wonder,” will visit at 3:00 p.m. July 1 and Jefferson Knapp, author of the “Kingdom at the End of the Driveway” series, will visit at 3:00 p.m. July 15, both in the Prescott Room.
Karr, of McPherson, was inspired by her dog, Wink, who was born blind in one eye. She wrote “Wink, the One-Eyed Wonder” to spread the message that despite obstacles and imperfections, everyone has great worth. Karr will bring Wink with her to the library.
Knapp grew up outside of Wichita where he had many pets and explored the countryside. His three-part “Kingdom” series includes “The Brave Journey,” “The Rightful Heir,” and “The Ending Feud.” The books follow 12-year old Benjamin Biggs who becomes entangled in a secret underground kingdom of misfit animals. Knapp has done many school and library visits, sharing stories about his childhood and explaining the writing process.
