UPDATE: The Kansas Gas Service has confirmed that a gas line was indeed ruptured on Tuesday morning.

Dawn Ewing from the Kansas Gas Service confirmed that a “3rd party hit the line” causing the rupture.

The rupture occurred near the intersection of Iron & Columbia at about 9:30 a.m., where roadwork is currently taking place.

Ewing stressed the importance of always calling 811 before starting any digging project, no matter how big or small.  The Kansas Gas Service provided the following video via their Facebook page which explains more about digging safe. That video can be found by clicking here.

The Salina Fire Department and Kansas Gas Service were called to the scene of an apparent gas line rupture in a north Salina neighborhood.

The rupture, which was reported shortly after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, occurred in the area of Iron Avenue & Columbia Avenue.

There have been no reports of injuries and no immediate word on what caused the rupture.
