DrRosales_TomIntroducing Dr. J. Edgar Rosales, your BANK VI Hero of the Week!

Dr. Rosales was nominated for the many years he has dedicated himself, not only to the medical profession, but also to the assistance he has given to his many patients as well as numerous families and children. He was also nominated for the many contributions he has made to the community.

Dr. Rosales, a native of Bolivia, is a pediatrician. He has been in practice in Salina for more than three decades, primarily at Mowery Clinic. He has also been involved with the Salina Regional Health Center as well as the former Asbury and St. John’s hospitals. He has served as the President of the hospital’s medical staff as well as their Secretary and Treasurer. He also served as an emergency room physician for many years.

As a pediatrician, he has assisted in many high-risk and premature deliveries. He has also worked with many patients at Salina Regional’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Dr. Rosales has also spent a great deal of time educating the children of our community on the medical profession. He has had several children “shadow” him while he assists patients and performs other medical duties. He also occasionally speaks at local schools, primarily discussing the positives and negatives of being a physician and the medical profession in general.

Dr. Rosales was also very instrumental in the growth of youth soccer in the community. He was heavily involved with the addition and installation of soccer fields at Bill Burke Park as well as the addition of the Magnolia Soccer Complex. He has also served as a soccer coach to many area youths.

Dr. Rosales has also been involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina program for many years.

Those close to him say that he has helped many families and children all across the area. He not only took the time to diagnose and treat their specific illnesses, but he always went above and beyond for all of his patients, friends and family.

At the end of July, Dr. Rosales will be retiring after 33 of years of service. He appreciates the many wonderful individuals he has worked with over the years and extends a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the labor and delivery and NICU units at Salina Regional Health Center, for which he will always be eternally grateful. He will be greatly missed by all of those he has touched and wish him nothing but the very best for his upcoming retirement.
