The Greater Salina Community Foundation is partnering with the City of Salina Parks & Recreation Department to again assist low income children who may not be able to afford access to Kenwood Cove Aquatic Park.
The Foundation has created a pass-through fund to accept donations for the program. Last year, this program successfully assisted more than 300 low income children, allowing them access to the City’s beautiful new water park. Anyone can contribute.
A donation of $20 will purchase 10 swims for a low-income child living in Saline County. A gift of $100 will purchase 50 swims. Assistance will be provided according to income guidelines and the program will be administered through the City’s Parks & Recreation department.
Donors will receive a tax deduction for their gift to the Foundation. The Foundation will pass donated funds to the City of Salina Parks and Recreation Department to pay for admission tickets for eligible children.
Additional information:
For families that meet income guidelines to qualify for free school lunches – children between ages 3 and 17 can receive 10 tickets each at no cost to them
For families that meet income guidelines to qualify them for reduced school lunches – children between the ages of 3 and 17 can receive 5 tickets each at no cost to them
Starting April 1, families can complete an application form provided by the Parks & Recreation department. Completed applications will be accepted at the Parks & Recreation office beginning May 2.
If you are interested in making a donation, please make your check payable to the Greater Salina Community Foundation and write Pool Fund in the memo line. Mail your gift to the Foundation at Box 2876, Salina, KS 67402-2876.
