Two unique genealogy events will be at Salina Public Library in October. The Genealogy Club will meet from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. October 15 in the Prescott Room. On October 17, the library is partnering with the Daughters of the American Revolution to present a genealogy workshop from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. in the Prescott Room.
The October meeting of the Genealogy Club will feature a presentation from Vince Marshall on dowsing for graves. This is a method used for locating unmarked graves. Marshall is the president of the Valley Center Historical and Cultural Society. Club meetings are free and open to the public. There is no registration required.
The Mary Wade Strother Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is observing its 125th anniversary by facilitating a genealogy workshop. The workshop will be led by Mary Douglass, chapter registrar. She will present a general introduction to genealogical research and answer specific questions from attendees. There will be help available for those working on their DAR, SAR or other lineage society applications. Attendees may wish to bring a laptop. Refreshments will be available. The workshop is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
