This past Monday, at their regular meeting, Salina City Commissioners approved plans to replace the Greeley Street Bridge, which has been closed since 2012.
The city approved construction estimates with Kaw Valley Engineering and the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT).
Current plans call for the bridge to be replaced in time for the 2016 Smoky Hill River Festival.
The cost of the bridge replacement has been estimated at about $540,000 for construction and another $78,966 for engineering services. KDOT is paying for 80% of the project, while the city will pay the remainder, which is approximately $126,000.
