A dozen wheels and rims were taken from a garage in a burglary that occurred between November 4th and 7th in the 900 block of W. Walnut. Juan Jaranillo reports the value of the stolen items at $1,600.

A Columbus, Nebraska woman is out $3,000 after buying a car for a nephew that wound up being stolen. The woman met a man, who said his name was Deont Kejun, in the east parking lot of Walmart, 2900 S. 9th, on October 28th between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to look over a 2009 Dodge Avenger he had posted for sale on Craigslist. When her nephew went to get license plates for the car on November 6th, he learned the car, which is valued at more than $6,000, was reported stolen out of Oklahoma.

A Salina man reports the theft of a cellular telephone that he left at Oakdale Park. Stephan Shelton said he was in the park between 1:30 p.m. and 4p.m. Saturday afternoon, and when he went back to get the phone, it was gone. The phone is a Samsung S5 in an otterbox. Total loss has been placed at $500.

Police arrest a man for stealing carpet out of a vacant house late Sunday afternoon. 50-year-old Sukina Jefferson is alleged to have taken the carpet from a rental home in the 1500 block of Pueblo just before 5 p.m. A witness reported seeing Jefferson leave the house with the carpet. Police stopped the vehicle Jefferson was driving a short time later and arrested him.

Drills, a buffing machine, and a license plate were taken in a vehicle burglary that occurred sometime between Friday and Saturday. A dozen power drills, buffer, and license plate were removed from a 2000 Toyota Minivan while it was parked in the 400 block of Chicago. The owner of the stolen items, Deanna Clemence, said the loss is $500.

A Salina man is charged with fleeing and eluding on a moped after he would not stop for a police officer Saturday evening. A police officer noticed 30-year-old Cody Maxwell just before 9:30 p.m. on the moped in the 1500 block of W. Crawford. Maxwell was wanted on an outstanding warrant and refused to stop, until he pulled into his driveway in the 600 block of Jamison. Maxwell was also charged with driving while suspended.

A Salina man comes home Friday afternoon to find a woman he knows trying to break into his home in the 400 block of S. Phillips. Casey Nicholson called police when he found 37-year-old Cheryl Pittenger trying to force open the front door at about 2:30 p.m. Pittenger ran from the home, but was caught a short time later. She was arrested on a requested charge of attempted burglary.

A man caught inside a car at body shop Friday afternoon is arrested for criminal trespass, interference with a law enforcement officer, and criminal possession of a firearm. 35-year-old Albert Whitaker was found inside the vehicle at Calvin’s Customs, 325 N. Santa Fe, about 4:30p.m. Police were called, and they found a rifle in the vehicle that Whitaker was found hiding in that did not belong to the owner of the business.
