Planet Fitness, one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of fitness centers in the United States, has confirmed the opening of a Salina location.

Becky Brown, Public Relations Manager for Planet Fitness, tells The Salina Post that the new club, which will be located at the former Dillons Southgate building at 2012 S. Ohio, is expected to open in the Spring of 2016. The club will use about 21,000 square feet of the facility, which includes the former grocery store space as well as the space that was previously occupied by Kenison Liquor.

Brown indicated that the club will bring 15 to 20 new jobs to the Salina market and will be open and staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“We look forward to enhancing the lives of those in Salina with our high-quality fitness experience in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment we call the Judgement Free Zone,” Brown said.

Planet Fitness currently has 1,000 locations nationwide. The franchise owners of the Salina location currently operate 20 locations spread across Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
