Icy conditions over the past 24 hours have kept first responders in Saline County busy.

According to the Salina Fire Department, crews responded to 24 emergency calls, most of them weather related, within the first 12 hours of the day on Friday. At least 5 of these calls were due to accidents caused by slick road conditions.

Fire department officials advise motorists to stay home during ice and snow events, but also say if you do have to go out, drive safely.

The National Weather Service in Wichita says that another round of freezing rain and sleet are expected to impact much of the area today. With roads in many locations still slick, additional ice accumulations of up to two-tenths of an inch are expected today that will continue to create hazardous travel conditions.
