More than 400 anxious and excited movie goers lined up at the AMC Salina 10 Cinema at the Salina Central Mall for Thursday night’s premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The film is the highly anticipated seventh episode of the long running film series. Many experts within the entertainment industry expect the film to break several box office records.

On Thursday, the film took in a record breaking $57 million at the U.S. box office for its preview showings. That number surpassed the record for the biggest pre-opening in box office history held by “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” which made $43.5 million on its opening night in 2011.

So far, the Disney-produced film has pulled in roughly $130 million worldwide since opening overseas on Wednesday. The film is expected to break the record for an opening weekend, which belongs to Universal’s “Jurassic World”, which premiered to $208.8 million just six months ago.
