James “Jim” Benson, 79, Salina, died Friday, December 25, 2015. He was born June 7, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA.
Jim retired as a Master Sergeant of 32 years from the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife Naomi of the home; three sons Bob Benson of Salina, Ted Benson of Ottawa, and Rick Benson of Winfield; daughter Julie Benson of Florida; and one granddaughter Eris Benson. He’s also survived by four step-children Kim Haas of Salina, Ed Arnold of Salina, Ty Arnold of Bennington, and Guy Arnold of Watertown, SD; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services with military honors will be at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 29 at the Bennington Bible Church. There will be no visitation and burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bennington Bible Church.

MARYSVILLE — Doris A. Steward, 93, of Marysville and formerly of Simpson, passed away Dec. 11, 2015. She was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Hunter, the daughter of Charles and Alvena (Lick) Heller.
Doris enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid gardener. She loved spending time with family, particularly with her grandchildren. She loved visiting, talking politics, farming and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles and Alvena; brothers, Dennis, Eldon and Emerson; husbands, Melvin Burleigh and Homer Steward; and granddaughter, Monica.
Survivors include her four children, Deanna and Allen Larson, of Capron, Ill., Mary Leidig, of Timken, Kathy and Ron Walker, of Salina, and Kevin and Wendy Steward, of Truro, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at Hunter Community Center, 109 E. First St., Hunter, with a luncheon following. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and share in food and fellowship.

Marion James “Mick” Klotzbach, 81, of Salina, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015. He was born Oct. 20, 1934, in Manhattan, the son of Martin and Reva (Venard) Klotzbach.
Mick was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge, he attended Kansas State University and graduated with an accounting degree. He worked as an accountant his entire career.
Mick was a member of St. Mary’s parish, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, American Legion and VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Joyce Klotzbach; two sons, Kevin (Peggy) Klotzbach and Michael (Joy) Klotzbach; five daughters, Cindy (Brian) Kandt, Lisa (Sam) King, Lynn (Greg) Soldan, Jean (David) Weigel and Marian Kindlesparger; three sisters, Jean Ramberg, Nancy Nix and Coralie Miller; sister-in-law, Theresa Klotzbach; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation; cremation was chosen. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Ryan Mortuary with burial of ashes following in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Judy Heglund, Assaria, passed away at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas on December 26th after a long battle from the affects of a stroke December of 2007.
Judy was the first of 4 children born to Frank and Thelma Brightbill. Judy was born on May 18, 1939 at St. John’s in Salina, KS. She attended public schools in the Salina area and graduated from Salina Central in 1957. She was an Assaria resident since 1965 where she was a homemaker.
Judy married Jim Heglund on February 22, 1959. This union was blessed with two children; Christy and Michelle. Judy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother for the rest of her life on the family farm outside Assaria. She was a member of Assaria Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mildred and Julius Heglund, and sister-in-law Elaine Heglund.
Survivors include husband, Jim Heglund of Assaria; two daughters, Christy (Boyd) Rodeman, Newton and Michelle (Dennis) Claussen, Valley Center; 8 grandchildren: Callie, Caleb, Camille, Carlie, Chloe, and Caris Claussen, and Simon and Lydia Rodeman.
Judy will be missed for her beautiful smile, tenderness, kindness, and positive attitude she displayed to others throughout her entire life.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30th from 4-7p.m at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
The funeral service will be Thursday, December 31, at 11:00 a.m., Assaria Lutheran Church, Assaria.

Carl Dean Chaney, 85, of Natoma, Kansas resident,
died on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at the Bramlage House at Meadow Hills Care Center in Manhattan, Kansas.
Carl was born on August 04, 1930, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Roy and Hazel (Carmin) Chaney. He grew up in the Saline River Valley and Codell, Kansas, areas and graduated from Codell High School. He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann Arnold on February 22, 1950, in Stockton, Kansas. From this union Carl and Elizabeth were blessed
with 4 children; Carla, Coleen, Brian and Todd. Carl worked 42 years as an oil field pumper for Okmar Oil Company. In their later years Carl and Elizabeth settled down in Natoma. He attended Natoma Methodist Church. He was a former Boy Scout Master and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Codell, Plainville and Russell, Kansas. As a Mason, Carl achieved the highest degree in Freemasonry
as a the Third Degree Master Mason as well as a 32nd degree mason. He enjoyed reading about Kansas history, digging snake root, using his metal detector, playing the slot machines and playing KENO scratch tickets. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving family include his daughters Carla Kriley of Walker, Kansas and Coleen Deschner and husband Mike of Scott City, Kansas; sons Brian Chaney and wife Sarah
of Sandwich, Massachusetts and Todd Chaney of Hays, Kansas; brother Lowell Chaney of Hobert, Oklahoma and Doris Falk of Dallas, Texas; 5 grandchildren Ronnie, Dale, Brandon, Krystal and Megan and 3 great grandchildren Carlie, Colette and Ari.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elizabeth on December 13, 2010 and a grandson Dale Hopkins.
A
celebration of Carl’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at the Natoma Methodist Church in Natoma, Kansas, with Michael Deschner officiating. Burial will follow at the Natoma City Cemetery. A Masonic service will be presented by Darrell Rubottom. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell. Memorials can be given to the Association of Retarded Citizens and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell and Natoma is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
