UPDATE: The cause of an overnight house fire in north Salina has not yet been determined.

Salina Fire Inspector Troy Long tells The Salina Post that Ben Platten returned to his home at 736 N. 5th shortly before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, and found it in flames. He then went to a neighbor, who called the fire department.

Long said it appeared the fire started near the rear interior of the home, which is owned by Tom Platten.

The home was extensively damaged. There were no injuries.

There were no reports of injuries in a north Salina house fire early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the 700 block of N. 5th just before 1:30 a.m. and found a home just south of Woodland Avenue fully engulfed.

A Salina police officer tells The Salina Post at the scene that all occupants were able to escape the home without injury.

As of early Wednesday morning, the cause of the fire had not yet been determined.
