A third counterfeit $100 bill received by the same Salina restaurant is the latest in a series of bogus cash to surface in Salina.

Salina Police say that a third counterfeit bill received by Pizza Hut, 1200 S. Santa Fe, came from someone staying at the Airliner Motel, 781 N. Broadway, between January 2nd and January 4th. Two other counterfeit $100 bills were received by the same Pizza Hut from the same motel on New Year’s Eve.

Police are actively investigating the Pizza Hut cases as well as more than half a dozen others that have affected Salina area businesses since the beginning of December:

• A counterfeit $20 bill was found in a bank deposit of the 24/7 Travel Store, 2230 N. 9th, on December 4th. The phony bill was passed sometime between December 1st and December 3rd.
• A counterfeit $100 bill was passed on December 14th at Casey’s General Store, 725 W. Schilling.
• A counterfeit $10 bill was found in a bank deposit from Rod’s Convenience Store, 1717 W. Crawford, on December 14th.
• A counterfeit $100 bill was discovered in a bank deposit from Sonic Drive-In, 310 S. Santa Fe, on December 16th.
• Two counterfeit $20 bills and a counterfeit $100 bill were found in a bank deposit from Ad Astra Books, 141 N. Santa Fe, on December 21st.
• A counterfeit $1 bill was found in a bank deposit from Generation Property Management on December 28th.
• A counterfeit $20 bill was discovered in a bank deposit from the City of Salina Water Department on December 29th.

Police also investigated several cases of counterfeit bills that surfaced in Salina in September and October. It is not known if any of these cases are connected. There have been no arrests.
