Introducing James Trepoy, your BANK VI Hero of the Week!
James was nominated for his efforts in organizing fund raisers and events around the community which benefit a number of charities and organizations.
For the past 20 years, James has organized a poker run benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association. 300-400 people take part in the annual event, which raises around $5,000. James is a part of a Harley Davidson owners group that promotes this event. As a part of the event, James has his head shaved in exchange for donations.
James also organizes a Christmas toy run that benefits the Domestic Violence Association of Central Kansas (DVACK) and The Ashby House each year. James took over running the annual event about 15 years ago, which was originally started by the Golden Eagle Motorcycle Club. This event is designed to collect toys and donate them to children at both organizations in order to help give them a good Christmas.
He also helps out at other poker runs and fundraisers around the area, including as many toy runs as possible.
For James, it’s not always about the money theses events raise. “The amount we raise doesn’t matter, we just do it for a good cause,” he said.
