Scattered damage, power outages in Kansas

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) – A storm that blew through most of Kansas caused two deaths, scattered damage to homes and businesses and some power outages.

Two people killed in Barton County when high winds sent a tree through their windshield near St. John have not been identified. Six structures, including one home, were damaged northwest of Ellinwood in the county, but no other deaths or major injuries were reported.

State emergency management officials say early damage reports from Tuesday’s storm include power outages, tree damage and minor flooding in northwest, northeast, central and southeast Kansas counties.

Great Bend officials reported minor damage at the city’s airport and roof damage to two businesses. Some flash flooding was reported in Rush County after it received about 4 1/2 inches of rain in 60 to 90 minutes.
