Central Mall Cinema Will Reopen Under AMC Banner Monday

The Central Mall Cinema will officially open as an AMC-owned theater on Monday evening.

Theater General Manager Tammy Kromer announced the theater will close following the 7:10 showings Sunday evening and reopen as an AMC Theater at 6 p.m. Monday.

The Leawood, Kansas based AMC purchased all 33 of Starplex Cinemas locations in July. The sale was finalized in December.

Kromer said the only changes in prices include the addition of sales tax being added to tickets and concessions. Movie tickets were previously sold with tax included in the price. “As of right now, even the $1 hot dog is now 99¢ plus tax,” Kromer said.

Starplex Gift Cards will continue to be honored by the theater, but Starplex Rewards cards will not.

Theater hours will be changing effective Friday, January 15th. “Our hours will be changing a quite a bit starting the 15th, so please check the AMC website after Tuesday for times,” she said.
