After two decades as Saline County Sheriff, Glen Kochanowski will not seek re-election in 2016. He made the announcement Friday morning.

Kochanowski, 73, has been in law enforcement for nearly 50 years. He spent 31 of those years with the Salina Police Department, rising all the way to the rank of Deputy Chief. He graduated from the former Salina Police Academy in 1966.

He became the Saline County Sheriff in 1996 and will complete 20 years of service at the conclusion of his 5th and final term.

The Sheriff’s Office also recently saw the retirement of two other tenured officers. Undersheriff Dave Dunstan retired on December 15th after 15 1/2 years of service. Captain Rick Hansmann retired on December 18th after 47 years of service.
