Donald L. Stroda
66, passed away Friday, February19th, in Salina. He was born August 28, 1949 in Abilene, the son of Leon W. and Estella M. (McClain) Stroda. Growing up in Abilene, Don attended local schools. He was a Marine Veteran serving in Viet Nam. Don had been employed as a heavy equipment operator by Walker Stone and Grant Township. On August 28, 1999 he married Jolynn Helvey. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. Don enjoyed spending time with family and friends and time in his shop tinkering. He was preceded in death by his parents.

HILLSBORO – Robert L. “Bob” Sextro, age 76, retired Hillsboro High School math teacher of 28 years, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born July 30, 1939, at Marysville, Kansas. He was the son of Clemens F. and Carrie M. (Larsen) Sextro. He received his Master’s Degree from Kansas State University. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his special family: Jim and Virginia Vanek of Greeley, CO; Jimmy Vanek and fiancée Courtney Johnson of Wichita; and Sarah Kromer and husband Ryan of Wichita. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Monday, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2015, at Parkview Mennonite Church, Hillsboro. Committal Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at Marysville City Cemetery, Marysville. JOYCE D. ALLEN, 85 died February 20, 2016 at Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center, KS. She was born on January 12, 1931 in Russett, OK, the daughter of Edwin and Opal (Martin) Burton.

Edna Irene Kelly, 92, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Pine Village in Moundridge, KS. She was retired from CertainTeed where she worked as a polisher and in the tool crib.
Edna was born on June 17, 1923, in Utica, NE, the daughter of Orville and Helen Irene (Maeder) Lierman. She graduated from Utica High School. In her spare time, Edna enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include: four children, Annie Irene Kelly of Hastings, NE, Dennis Kelly (Diane) of Torrington, WY, Jim Kelly of Oklahoma City, OK, and Teresa J. Schulz of McPherson, KS; seven grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; ten great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, William R. Kelly and Danny K. Kelly; grandson, Christopher Conrad; a brother; and three half-brothers.
A private family burial will be held at Utica Cemetery, Utica NE.

Lyle S. RIghtmeier, of Mankato, Kansas, was born August 30, 1923, on a farm four miles south of Montrose, Kansas, to Lewis and Leta (Clark) Rightmeier, and died Tuesday February 16, 2016, at the Jewell County Immediate Swing Bed, Mankato, Kansas, at the age of 92 years, 5 months, and 17 days.
Lyle was known as “Ike” was one of seven children born to his parents. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings and their spouses – Leonard, Loren, Lyman, Lester, Leona Winter, and Leon Rightmeier.
Ike attended school at Hillsdale Country School and graduated from Montrose High School. He joined the United States Army in April 17, 1943 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and was discharged January 12, 1946, with the rank of Corporal servicing in the 124th Horse Cavalry regiment.
Lyle married Virginia Lee Snyder on October 21, 1951, at the Methodist Church, Montrose, Kansas. To this union two children were born – Paula and Roger. Ike lived his earlier years in Montrose, moving to Mankato in 1951. Ike worked for the United States Government as a surveyor and soil conservation technician. He was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church, Mankato, Kansas.
He is survived by his wife – Virginia of Mankato; daughter – Paula and husband, Terry Cherney, of Agenda, Kansas; son – Roger Lyle Rightmeier of Mankato, Kansas; three grandchildren – Carrie and husband, David Hahn of Prairie Village, Kansas; Patrick and wife, Chantel Cherney of Newton, Kansas, Bria Cherney of Denver, Colorado; three great-grandchildren – Keller Hahn, Audrey and Nora Cherney; siblings-in-law – Bonnie Snyder, Don and Barbara Snyder, Ron Intermill, Leta and Kenneth Adams; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ike cherished his family and the many friends he made through the activities he enjoyed throughout his life, including fishing, hunting, bowling, golfing, gardening, singing in barbershop quartets and gaining his private pilot license after his retirement.
Lyle S. Rightmeier has requested immediate cremation, and service will be held at a later date to honor his life. Arrangements were made by Melby Mortuary, 402 N High Street, PO Box 384, Mankato, Kansas 66956.
