Saline Co. Food Establishment & Lodging Inpsections, February 18-24, 2016

inspectionsFood Establishment and Lodging Inspections conducted in Saline County by the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Food Safety and Lodging from February 18 through February 24, 2016.

Food safety and lodging inspections are unannounced, and inspection results represent only those conditions found in the establishment at the time of the inspection.

Hong Kong Buffet, 2515 Market Pl. (February 22) Follow Up Inspection
– #10 can stored inside bucket of soy sauce inside meat walk-in cooler. Corrected on site: removed.
– Caulking hanging from inside of ventilation hood above cooking area.
– Raw chicken above container of soy sauce in meat walk-in cooler. Corrected on site: soy sauce moved.
– No detectable sanitizer in wiping cloth bucket. Corrected on site: remade with cool water and bleach to 50 ppm.

Pilot Travel Center #659, 2250 N. Ohio St. (February 22) Regular Inspection
– Various chemicals stored above case of single use lids in back store room. Corrected on site: moved lids.
– Door handle of upright Masterbuilt reach-in cooler inside kitchen in ill repair and not easily cleanable.
– Spray can of oven cleaner stored inside stainless steel pan touching bag of corn chips. Corrected on site: moved oven cleaner to floor.
– One individual package of mandarin oranges on retail shelf with broken seal and moldy. Corrected on site: removed from shelf for disposal.
– Old date mark stickers on stainless steel pans stored as clean on dish rack above kitchen prep table and 3 vat sink Corrected on site: removed stickers and rewashed.
– Lights above self service beverage bar not shielded or protected.
– Hot water only 60.9 degrees F at handwashing sink behind register where hot foods are handled.
– No handwashing sink available in new ice bagging room.
– Open beverage on Masterbuilt loboy freezer next to oven in kitchen. Employee eating behind register area upon arrival. Corrected on site: educated.
– Cases of coffee on storage room floor, case of muffins on floor inside walk-in cooler, and case of various foods on floor in pop room.
– Cases of cups setting on floor in back store room and upstairs storage area.
– Floor under deli foods inside walk-in cooler covered in debris.
– Beverage bar cabinets covered in spills and debris.
– HVAC unit above food storage rack inside kitchen full of dust.
– Ice bags have main office address in Knoxville, Tennessee instead of Salina, Kansas.
– Notice of non-compliance issued. Follow up inspection scheduled for March 22.

Taco Bell, 1040 E. Iron Ave. (February 22) Complaint Inspection
– Light cover above east steam table has brown stain like a leak. Person in charge identified as condensation stain.
– HVAC vent in drive thru area and on west make table side have accumulation of dust.

Taco Bell, 1700 W. Crawford St. (February 22) Complaint Inspection
– Personal uncovered milkshake inside walk-in freezer. Corrected on site: moved to office.
– Case of dome lids setting on floor in break area. Corrected on site: moved lids to shelf.

Taco John’s, 303 S. Santa Fe Ave. (February 18) Regular Inspection
– Previous years food license posted.
– Hole in east wall below prep table repaired with cardboard.
– Hole in east wall by plumbing hole in wall behind ice machine.
– Ceiling tile missing in drive thru area above pop machine.
– Walk-in cooler light not working.
– Case of single service cups setting on floor of exterior storage shed.
– Out of packaging roll of plastic film covering setting on bottom shelf less than 6 inches above floor that has just been routinely treated by LPCO. Corrected on site: disposed of plastic film.
– Hose sprayer above warewashing sink tied with rag and in ill repair.
-Walk-in cooler light not shielded or protected.
