Introducing Polly Howell, your BANK VI Hero of the Week!
Polly was nominated for the oustanding work she does as a nursing instructor at Brown Mackie College.
Polly has been with the school for just over 7 years and is a nursing lab instructor and that primarily teaches basic skills, bedside skills, and communications to nursing students. Her classes take place entirely in the nursing lab and are completely hands on.
As a part of her instruction, Polly often goes above and beyond the call of duty and does anything and everything to help her students understand what they are learning. She puts in many long days and goes the extra mile for people. If a student is struggling with something, she will stay later just to have one-on-one teaching time with the student.
Polly is also instrumental in the Hearts of Compassion Group at Brown Mackie. Hearts of Compassion is a nursing service organization that takes part in the annual Relay For Life and the Christmas Angel Tree. Through the angel tree, every student at Brown Mackie that has a child under the age of 12 receives Christmas gifts and Polly is very instrumental in that process.
For all she does for her students and the school, Polly is a true hero to those around her. “I’m just blown away,” she said.
