UPDATE: Three people were hospitalized after a three vehicle accident involving a motorcycle Thursday afternoon.
Salina Master Police Officer Rande Repp tells The Salina Post that 19-year-old Austin Holt of Atlanta, Kansas, was driving his 1981 Chevrolet pickup in the 2200 block of S. 9th just before 3 p.m., when traffic in front of him forced him to brake sharply.
53-year-old Dennis Carroll of Salina was directly behind Holt on his 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle. He saw Holt braking and immediately applied his brakes.
Behind Carroll was 16-year-old Kaitlynn Baker, who was driving her 2013 Ford Focus. She was unable to stop in time and rear-ended Carroll’s motorcycle, pushing it into the rear-end of Holt’s truck.
Carroll and a passenger, 48-year-old Christina Barlow, were both ejected from the motorcycle. They were transported to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of various injuries, none of which are believed to be life threatening.
Baker was also transported by EMS for treatment of minor injuries. Holt was not injured.
According to Repp, Baker was cited for following too closely.
