The Kansas State High School Activities Association State High School Baseball and Softball Championship Tournaments begin today and three Saline County schools will be represented.

Salina South will travel to Wichita after qualifying for the Class 5A State Baseball Tournament. The third-seeded Cougars (18-4) will take on sixth-seeded Wichita Heights (17-5) in the first round in a game that will start approximately 20 minutes after an 11 a.m. contest between Tecumseh-Shawnee Heights and Shawnee-Mill Valley.

Sacred Heart will travel to Great Bend for the Class 2-1A State Baseball Tournament. The eighth-seeded Knights (7-14) will face top-seeded Sedan (21-1) at 11 a.m.

On the softball side, only one Saline County school qualified for state. Southeast of Saline is the top-seed in the Class 3A State Tournament at Manhattan. The Lady Trojans (22-1) and will take on eighth-seeded Hays-TMP-Marian (17-6) at 5 p.m. The Salina Post will have exclusive coverage of that game and the tournament as it progresses.
