Introducing Reagan and Angie Hughes, your BANK VI Heroes of the Week!

Reagan and Angie were nominated for coming to the aid of an injured bicyclist that had been struck by a vehicle at a Salina convenience store.

On the evening of May 25, 2016, Melissa Hustin was struck by a pickup while riding her bicycle in the parking lot of Kwik Shop, 2003 S. Ohio. Reagan witnesssed the entire accident. Reagan and Angie immediately ran over to Melissa and helped her until emergency personnel arrived at the scene. Reagan called 911 for assistance and even got Melissa a bottle of water.

After the accident, Angie wanted to help fix Melissa’s bicycle. With the help of her husband, Angie took the bicycle to a local bike shop to be fixed. Because the bicycle was not able to be repaired, Angie bought Melissa a brand new bicycle.

Since the accident, Reagan has reached out and kept in contact with Melissa during her recovery, and Angie has since seen Melissa riding her new bicycle.

Melissa’s roommate, Michelle Livingston, says that Angie and Reaghan both have an amazing heart. “They did not need to do this, nor did they have to stop to help,” she said. “This is why they are heroes.”

Angie said she and Reagan don’t consider themselves heroes. “It’s all God’s plans,” she said.
