Water Well Road from Link Road to Powers Road will be closed starting Wednesday, July 6th, to permit the replacement of the deteriorated, corrugated metal, triple-barrel, load-rated (5 tons), crossroad drainage structure on Water Well Road over Spring Creek with a three-span (54’ – 72’ – 54’) concrete haunched slab bridge. The structure is located 0.4 mile west of Powers Road. The work at this site is anticipated to be completed by January 18, 2017. Of course, completion is dependent on unforeseen conditions such as adverse weather.
Through traffic will be prohibited during the construction period and motorists are advised to allow a few extra minutes of travel time to reach their destinations by alternate routes. Local and emergency traffic will be provided access to private property within the sections of closed road at all times but only from the side of the project site upon which the property lies. The only times these properties may not be accessible might be during possible critical stages of construction when it is impractical to carry on construction operations and simultaneously allow local traffic.
Saline County opened bids on the Water Well Road Bridge Replacement on April 11, 2016. The low bidder was King Construction Company, Inc. of Hesston, Kansas. They were awarded a contract for $596,374.00. The project funded from the 2-mil fund for bridge and culvert replacement.
