Fireworks Complaints Down Compared to 2015

fireworksSalina Police received fewer complaints concerning the use of fireworks between June 27th and July 5th than were received in 2015. 127 complaints were called into police this year compared to around 200 last year.

Captain Mike Sweeney said officers did issue eight citations for fireworks violations. Six citations were discharging fireworks outside of the July 3rd and July 4th dates allowed by city ordinance. One citation was issued for discharging fireworks in a street, and one other was issued for shooting bottle rockets which are illegal in Salina.

Saline County Undersheriff Roger Soldan said there were no complaints received by the Sheriff’s Office concerning fireworks use over the holiday weekend.
