Sheriff’s Office Warns of Scam

scamalterThe Saline County Sheriff’s Office says someone is impersonating a deputy over the phone in a scam attempt.

Undersheriff Roger Soldan tells The Salina Post that his agency has received two calls from concerned citizens that received suspicious phone calls over the weekend.

In one instance, the caller identified himself in a message as a Deputy Cruz and asked that his call be returned to a number with a 719 area code, which is out of Colorado.

Soldan said there is no Deputy Cruz with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office. “We certainly won’t call you from another area code and ask you to call us back,” he said.

The Sheriff’s Office warns citizens not to return any of these types of calls and possibly fall victim to a scam.
