Junior golfers in Salina and surrounding communities are invited to play in The First Tee of Salina Junior Golf Championship that starts at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, July 25.
Steve Hardesty, Director of the First Tee of Salina since its inception in 2001 said, “This is a great event to expose youth to tournament golf and sportsmanship. Any child who would like to explore competition should enter, even if they are not from Salina or members of The First Tee.” The tournament will be played on the 18-hole Salina Municipal course.
Entry blanks are available at the Municipal clubhouse and the fee is $10. Scholarship aid is available to those who would find the entry fee a hardship. The tournament is open to youngsters up to and including the age of 17.
Parents can enter their children in three ways:
1. Pick up an entry blank at the Salina Municipal pro shop.
2. Phone or e-mail Steve Hardesty (steve.hardesty@salina.org) and he will e-mail an entry blank to them, which can be mailed (2500 E. Crawford) or delivered to the
Municipal pro shop.
3. Phone the pro shop (785-826-7450) and pay child’s entry fee, using a bank credit card.
Parents can call the clubhouse on Saturday (July 24) to learn their child’s tee time,
which will also be posted at the golf course.
