An elderly Salina woman is out money after becoming a victim of a phone scam.
Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney said the woman, who is in her 80’s, received a call on September 28th informing her that she was a winner of a new BMW from Publisher’s Clearing House.
In order to have the car delivered, she was required to make two Western Union money transfers totaling just over $2,100.
When she received another call requesting more money, she said she could not afford to send more money, then she realized she have been a victim of a scam and contacted police on October 1st.
