
A local football coach has been nominated for a national honor.
Michael Reid, the head football coach at St. John’s Military School, has been nominated for The Most Valuable Coach Award by US Cellular. Reid was nominated by way of an essay turned in for the contest and placed in the Top 50.
From now through noon on October 17th, votes will be taken to determine the Top 15. The Top 15 will then enter the second round of voting, which will take place starting at noon on October 20th through noon November 18th. The two Most Valuable Coaches will be announced on November 21st. The two winning coaches are given $5000 to go toward their school and will be flown to Orlando, Florida for the Under Armour High School All American game on ESPN on January 1st.
Reid is not only the head football coach at St. John’s Military School, but he also serves as the Senior Military Advisor. According to his nominator, he is a man of conviction and integrity. He has been a valued employee at St. John’s for nearly 18 years and has served as head coach for 7 of those years. With an MBA in sports management, Reid has the drive and passion to not only improve his player’s football skills, but to encourage them to be productive citizens with confidence, conviction, tenacity and pride.
