Salina Downtown, Inc. is excited to “Light Up” the holidays this year! A group of dedicated holiday fanatics, local artists and downtown business owners, led by Salina Downtown, Inc. board member Mindi Davidson, have come together to ensure that this year downtown will be BRIGHT!
In August, Salina Downtown, Inc. was awarded $3,000 from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation Community Grant Fund at the Greater Salina Community Foundation. “We were very excited to receive this gracious grant. With the addition of these funds and with the help of the City of Salina, downtown holiday decorations are a reality this year,” said Penny Bettles. Managing Director of Salina Downtown, Inc.
Several donations were also received from downtown business owners and holiday enthusiasts throughout the community.
This year, Phase 1 will be rolled out, which will include commercial grade lights with 5-foot wreaths placed along the three large crosswalk structures on Santa Fe. Sixteen 6-foot banners will also be installed along the four major intersections along Santa Fe, Ash, Iron, Walnut and Mulberry. “Our committee is very excited about the phases of decorating we have come up with to create a festive atmosphere in downtown Salina over the next couple of years,” said Davidson. “Now we just need the funds to implement them.”
Fundraising has begun for Phase II to be implemented in the 2017 holiday season. Anyone interested in making a donation can send a check made payable to:
