DECATUR, Ill. — Carl W. Andrews, 93, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016. He was born and raised in Hedville, Kan., and graduated from Bavaria (Kan.) High School.
Carl served as U.S. Army staff sergeant with 101 Airborne, Screaming Eagles, during World Warr II in the European theater, including the Battle of the Bulge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Austin Andrews and Sophia Berg Andrews, and his wives, Mary and Jackie.
Surviving him are his children, Janice Andrews Glenn and husband Don and Jim Andrews and wife Nancy, as well as five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren
Carl was a Salina, Kan., resident for 90 years and did not know a stranger. He was a salesman his whole life for Holsum Bread, Dodge Real Estate, Etherington Real Estate and Lee Hardware.
He resided for the past three years at Tanglewood Village in Decatur.
He was a wonderful golfer, father and friend and will be missed by all.
Carl’s family will be receiving their dad’s friends from 3-4:30 p.m. Oct. 18, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. A reception will follow at 5, at the VFW, 1108 W. Crawford, Salina.
