Chris Alan Watson, 35, of Bennington, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 7th, 2016.
Chris was born in Salina, Kansas on February 7, 1981, a son of Connie (Webb) and the late Larry Watson.
He worked for the City of Salina. He also enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, working on cars, spending time at the farm and spending time with his family and friends. Chris loved his wife and kids. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.
On April 6, 2002, Chris married Shana O’Neal in Salina.
Survivors include his mother, Connie Watson, of Salina, Kansas; wife, Shana (O’Neal) Watson; three daughters, Trista Watson, Tambryn Watson, Taleigh Watson, son, Taygen Watson, all of Bennington, Kansas; sister, Michelle Dunlap, of Salina, Kansas; brother, Eric Watson, of Salina, Kansas. He is also survived by numerous nieces; mother-in-law, Tammy and Mark Shirack; father-in-law, Bob and Pam O’Neal; brothers-in-law, Skyler, Tayler, and Parker O’Neal; sisters-in-law, Somer O’Neal, Paige Shirack, Whitney Umeck, Samantha Dechant, Nichole and Sydney Taylor.
He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Watson; grandparents, Gerald and Helen Webb, Welday and Marian Watson.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 11, from 9:00 am – 8:00 pm at Carlson – Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina with family present from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, October 12, at Bennington Bible Church, Bennington, Kansas, with Todd Burrow officiating.

Jo Ann Temple, 89, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 9th.
Jody was born in Washington, Kansas on April 13, 1927, a daughter of the late Frances (Saip) and Alden Longwell.
She was an Elementary School Teacher.
Survivors include daughter, Robin Hendrickson, and husband Don, of Riverside, California; son, Mark Temple, and wife Michelle, of Sealy, Texas; son-in-law, Huel Mills, of Salina, Kansas; brother, Jerry Longwell and wife Maudell, of Southlake, Texas; and special friends, Belinda and Steve Rock, of Salina, Kansas. As well as 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Jody is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; brother, Alden R. Longwell; and daughters, Christie Mills and Laurel Hanson.
At the family’s request there will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Monday, October 17th at Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina, Kansas, with Rev. Barry Dundas officiating.

On June 17, 1945, Mom married our dad, Lloyd Boxum, following a regular morning church service at the First Christian Church in Downs, KS. They were married 64 years until Dad’s death October 22, 2009. Mom is survived by 4 children: Beverly Sutter, Abilene, KS; Belva (Jon) Hauxwell, Hays, KS; Bruce (Nancy) Boxum, Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Brice (Aimee) Boxum, Albuquerque, New Mexico; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Howard (Joyce) Cary, Downs, KS and many nieces and nephews.

LINCOLNVILLE – Betty Beneke, age 83, passed away October 7, 2016, at Dignity Care Home, Salina, Kansas. She was born May 25, 1933, southeast of Lincolnville, Kansas. She was the daughter of Karl and Katherine (Beisel) Frobenius. She was confirmed and baptized in May of 1947, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincolnville, by Rev. Wagner. She attended East Creek School for 1st and 2nd grades, and then went to Lincolnville Schools, where she graduated in 1951. She was united in marriage to Eldon Beneke on December 8, 1951, at St. John’s. She was employed at the Albert Riffel Grocery Store for several years. She then worked for the Lincolnville Co-op Association for four years and then moved from the old field mill office into the new office when the first part of the concrete elevator was built in 1956. She then took some time off to have a family. When she returned to the work force, she was employed by the Lincolnville Oil Company for a couple of years before returning full-time at the co-op. At her retirement in 1993, she had given them 27 years of service in total. She was preceded in death by her husband Eldon, a son Leo Eldon, her parents, and siblings: Dean, Marion, and Ruth. She is survived by her sons: Doug and his wife Linda of Salina; and Larry of Salina; 4 grandchildren: Brett of Kansas City, Missouri; Victoria of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; Bryant of Olathe; and Brittany of Lawrence; and a sister Lulu Swenson of Lindsborg. Visitation with family will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. Council Grove – Velda Jean Tiede, 87, of Council Grove, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Midland Care Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born July 16, 1929, in white City, Ks, the daughter of James and Lillie ( Magnuson) McCulle. She married Erwin C. Tiede on July 23, 1948. They lived on a farm in the Four Mile Community, where they raised their two children, Terry and Sue. Velda, worked alongside her husband, assisting with all the farm chores. She also worked at the Bank Hotel in Strong City and The Truck Stop, where she baked pies and pastries. They moved into Council Grove in 1998, when Erwin’s health started to decline.
Velda enjoyed gardening, quilting, fishing, crossword puzzles, watching the Royals and attending the Silver Sneakers Class, at Council Grove Life Center. Velda loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Erwin, sisters: June Dittman and Dorothy Trueblood, two infant brothers and brother Veryl Dale McCulle.
Velda is survived by her children, Terry Tiede and wife Deann, of Topeka, KS and Sue Veatch and husband John, of Berryton, KS; granddaughters: Wendy Veatch, of Dallas, TX, Sherri Barkley, of Rockwall, TX and Kelly Flanigan, of Frisco, TX; grandson, Tyler Tiede, of Topeka; great-grandchildren: Gage and Tyson Barkley and Keira and Lauren Flanigan.
Cremation is planned. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 4:00pm, Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Zeiner Funeral Home in Council Grove.

Larry Albert Dains, 72 of Council Grove, Kansas passed away peacefully, at his residence, on October 7, 2016.
He was born February 15, 1944, in rural Council Grove, KS, the son of Earl and Alpha Dains.
Larry had many accomplishments in his lifetime. As a teenager, he started working at the Bowling Alley and later the Sawmill, IBP, State Department and retired from Dolly Madison after 20 years. He was a 45 year member of Flint Hill Apostolic Church, and the NRA.
He met the love of his life, Mary Watson in 1963. They married in Mankatto, KS, on December 6, 1965. They celebrated nearly 51 years together.
Larry loved making people smile and was a devoted man to God. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend. He will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary; son Kent Dains and wife Julie; daughter Teresa Moyer and husband Donald; grandchildren: Jennifer Florence, Adam Ragoshcke, Jesse Dains, Alisha Ragoschke, Jordan Dains, Wyatt Burgess, Kevin Burgess, Tim Moyer, Brandon Moyer and Stefani Moyer; 7 great-grandchildren; sister Martha Hager & husband Dick; and son-in-law Vince Burgess, of Lawrence. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; beloved daughter Denise Burgess and her son Vince Lane; and brothers Arthur and Floyd Dains.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 21, 2016, at Flint Hills Apostolic Church in Council Grove.

Janel Wright, 33 years died October 9, 2016 in Salina, KS. She was born on August 14, 1983 in Belleville, Kansas, the daughter of Daniel and Linda Lou (Mason) Bowersox. Janel was raised in Mankato and graduated from Mankato High School in 2002. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kansas State University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Kansas in Social Work. Janel married Matt Wright on January 9, 2009. She worked for Pawnee Mental Health for over 10 years and was currently working for Citizens National Bank as a loan secretary. Janel was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Barbara was born on October 11, 1952 in Clay Center, KS., the daughter of George, Jr. and Ellen (Bousey) Mitchell. Barbara grew up in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS in 1970. She married Wayne “Steve” Blevins on May 21, 1971. Barbara worked at Kansas State University, Hutchinson Mayrath, and at the Clay County Hospital as a ward clerk. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Ruth G. Stucky, 88, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:40 a.m., Monday, October 10th, 2016 while in the company of family members, at Brookdale McPherson.
Ruth was born in Scottdale, PA on July 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Martha Anna (Kliewer) and Benjamin Neff Gamber.
Ruth attended the Scottdale Elementary school and graduated from Scottdale High School, Scottdale, Pennsylvania in 1946. She then attended Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, Virginia which is now known as Eastern Mennonite University. Ruth then attended and graduated from Lancaster School of Nursing in Lancaster, PA. in 1951. Ruth attended and graduated from Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana in 1956 where she received her BS for nurses. Later she attended Western Michigan University where she received her Masters Degree in Counseling in 1972.
She was a member of First Mennonite Church McPherson, KS.
Through the years Ruth worked for the Mennonite Publishing House in the Finishing Dept. in Scottdale, PA; was a general duty nurse for the Myersdale Hospital, Myersdale, PA; worked for the Mennonite Mission Board in Puerto Rico as a missionary nurse for a hospital and in Araguacema, Goias, Brazil in a clinic; worked at the Mennonite Hospital as a night supervisor of nurses in LaJunta, Colorado; worked general duty and taught nursing at the Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan; under the Oriental Mission Society Ruth worked in Haiti as a missionary nurse and teaching obstetrics; worked for the Axtell Hospital in Newton, Kansas and retired from St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas in 1993.
Ruth was united in marriage to Martin D. Stucky on April 17, 1993 at Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston, Kansas.
She is survived by her husband Martin D. Stucky of McPherson; his children, Gary L. Stucky and his wife Amber, Glenn R. Stucky and his wife Robin, and Brian K. Stucky and his wife Connie, all of McPherson, Kansas; 11 Grandchildren; 23 Great-Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Paul and Henry Gamber, her sister, Esther Gamber, and a great-granddaughter Amelia Grace Stucky..
