Ed Heide, 81, passed away Thursday, October 13th, in Abilene. He was born September 11, 1935 in WaKeeney, Kansas, the son of Edward B. and Elizabeth A. (Beer) Heide. Growing up in WaKeeney, Ed attended local schools, graduated from Trego Community High School with the class of 1953 and graduated from Emporia State in 1960 with a BA in business. He was an Army veteran having served in Alaska from 1953 – 1956. On June 13, 1959, he married Trudi Gile in Concordia. Most all of their married life has been spent in Abilene. Ed had been employed by Roy Simmons Accounting and Chet Gay Construction as an accountant before owning and operating A. Ed Heide Accounting. He enjoyed baseball, coaching T-ball through high school, golf and K-State football. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and had been the secretary of the Elks’ Lodge, B.P.O.E. #1675 for many years. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and much loved aunt, Martha Beer.
Ed is survived by: wife, Trudi Heide of Abilene; two daughters, Kristine (Randy) Barrett of Abilene and Michelle (Mark) Olsen of Prairie Village; son, David (Beth) Heide of Belton, Missouri; six grandchildren, Quinn, Brenna and Sophia Barrett, Henry Olsen and Madison and Rhett Heide; brother, Robert (Joanne) Heide of Lenexa, Kansas and uncle, William Beer of Wichita.
The family has chosen cremation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, October 21st, at the St. Andrews Catholic Church with Fr. Abraham Panthalanickal officiating. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 PM Thursday, October 20th, with a Parish Rosary at 6:30 PM at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his memory be made to the Abilene Baseball Club. El Dorado – Dennis L. “Brillo” Druse, age 56, passed away October 11, 2016, at Via Christi – St. Francis, in Wichita. He was born August 3, 1960, in El Dorado, the son of Jim and Eilene (Hansen) Druse. He was a graduate from Marion High School with the Class of 1979. He drove truck for Bituminous Transport. He was an avid Chiefs fan, liked riding his Harley, and enjoyed life with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a brother Bud and wife Norma of Marion; two sisters: Cindy Ruthloff and husband Mel of Newton; and Janet Berry and husband Scott of Pretty Prairie; Nieces and Nephews: Michelle Druse, Reena Gulick, Bryan Berry, Brad Druse and Patrick Berry and their families; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A Viewing will be held on Sunday from 3 – 5 p.m., at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. Cremation will then take place. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Grant Township Cemetery, Marion. MARION – Frances V. (Schattak) Kreutziger was born July 25, 1920, in Hillsboro, Kansas, the daughter of John and Augusta (Hamm) Schattak. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. Frances was only sixteen years old when her mother passed away, she would help care for her father on the family farm near Durham, until she was married. On November 27, 1941, she was wed to Wilbert Kreutziger, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marion. Together, Wilbert and Francis made their home near Canada, Kansas. They would move twice, once to Durham, and then back to Canada, to Wilbert’s family farm, where they would raise their family and farm for many years. Three sons were born to their union: twins, Wayne and Warren were born April 12, 1945. Twenty months later on January 29, 1947, Willis was born. When Wilbert’s health failed, they would retire and move into Marion. Wilbert passed away on December 27, 1985. Frances thoroughly enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. Her hobbies included gardening, especially flowers, and sewing. She sewed nearly all the shirts for her family. She also did altering of new clothes with the dress shops in Marion. She sewed adult protectors and lap robes for the VA Homes through the VFW Auxiliary, where she was a member for many years. She also made adult protectors, lap robes and embroidered tea towels as a member of the St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary. Frances spent the last 10 years of her life with her ‘new family’ at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro, Kansas, where she passed away on October 13, 2016, at the age of 96 years. Along with her husband Wilbert, she was preceded in death by her 3 siblings: Arthur Schattak, Lydia Wittmeyer, and Elfea Townsend. She is survived by her sons: Wayne and wife Neva of Hillsboro; Warren and wife Donna of Canada; and Willis and wife Joyce of Moundridge; 6 grandchildren: Randy, Russell and wife Sonja, Jennifer, Kimberly and husband Kevin, April and Aaron; 5 great-grandchildren: Carter, Brenna, Chandler, Kaylan and Koral; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2016, at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion. Interment will follow in the Marion Cemetery. Eulah F. (Chatham) Robbins, 96 of Paradise, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Parkview Care Center in Osborne.
Eulah was born December 21, 1919 on the family farm north of Waldo, Kansas. She was one of nine children born to Roy, Sr. and Edith (Lane) Chatham. She grew up and attended school north of Luray, Kansas. She then attended Ft. Hays Teacher College for 2 years. She taught at a country school south of Osborne and later she taught at Paradise School until it was closed.
Eulah was united in marriage to Bobbie Mac Robbins on August 21, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri. This union was blessed with four children; Harold, Cleta, Diana and William. They made their home on the farm where Bobbie was born.
Eulah was a devoted wife and farmer’s wife. She took great pride in their farm and in their children. She was a member of the Nazarene Church of Paradise, where she taught Sunday school and was past President of the Nazarene Missions. The last few years with her son, she attended the Westview Church in Hays, Kansas.
Surviving family include her two daughters, Cleta Johnson (Al) of Kenai, Alaska and Diane Blosser (Darrell) of Hays, Kansas; two sons, Harold Robbins (Mary) of Yakutat, Alaska and William Robbins of Paradise, Kansas; brother, Roy Chatham, Jr. of Osborne, Kansas; two sisters, Naomi Copeland of Topeka, Kansas and Virginia True of Kearney, Missouri; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Randall Chatham, two sisters Izora and Wilma and adopted son, Merlin “Mac” Chesney,.
Celebration of Eulah’s Life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Paradise United Methodist Church in Paradise, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Mt. Herman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Memorial has been established with the Nazarene Missions. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
