A Salina man is out more than $1,500 dollars after falling victim to a scam.
Police Captain Mike Sweeney said the man, who is in his 50’s, received a phone call from a man identifying himself as Bob Green, who informed him that he had won $7.5 million and a brand new Mercedes Benz.
The caller stated processing fees would be needed to release the winnings and instructed the man to send a money order for $1,550.
Sweeney said that shortly after sending the money order through Western Union, the man received a second call instructing him to send more money to cover taxes on his prizes. It was then he realized that he had been scammed.
He sent no further money and instead contacted police, according to Sweeney.
