KANSAS CITY, Mo. (November 5, 2016) – The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have declined the mutual option with right-handed Luke Hochevar after he exercised his portion of it, making him a free agent. Hochevar, 33, is free to sign with any club beginning on Tuesday, November 8.

Following this transaction, the Royals have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
