Rossville beats Hesston 48-42 in OT for Kansas 3A title

rossvillebulldogsHUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) — Jacob Bradshaw threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more, including a 10-yard run in overtime, to give Rossville a 48-42 victory over Hesston in the Kansas 3A state title game Saturday.

Bradshaw was 11 of 16 for 148 yards while adding 275 yards on the ground for the Bulldogs (12-1), who won their second state championship in the past three years. Dawson Hammes added 106 yards and two touchdowns, while Cole Schumacher had nine catches for 135 yards and three scores.

Hesston (10-3) took a 42-35 lead on Zachary Esau’s touchdown run with 4:38 left in the game, but Rossville marched 70 yards to set up Dawson’s touchdown run and force overtime.

Esau threw for two touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns to lead the Swathers, who lost three of their first four games before reaching their first title game since 1992.
