UPDATE: Kansas Man Dies From Injuries After Train Collides With Truck

We have now gotten word that the man taken to a Wichita hospital after an accident with a train in southwestern Reno County has died from his injuries.

28-year-old Bronc L. Kraft of Abbyville was taken by Midwest Lifeteam Helicopter to Via Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita in serious condition, but apparently his condition worsened, and according to Reno County Sheriff Captain Wayne Baughman he died.

The accident was reported at approximately 2:07 p-m Saturday, at K-61 and Sterling Road., about 3-and a-half miles southwest of Arlington.

According to Reno County Sheriff Sgt., Matt Tatro, Kraft was southbound on Sterling Rd., in his 2001 Dodge truck pulling two stock trailers. He failed to stop before reaching the railroad tracks which are located just north of the intersection with K-61. A Union Pacific freight train was headed east at the same time. Kraft managed to jump from the truck before impact in an attempt to get away. The train the struck the cab of Kraft’s truck and he was struck by debris as he ran.

Two baby lambs were in the trailers and they were not injured, nor was anyone on the train.
