Salina Woman Charged With Smuggling Pills Into Jail

A 26-year-old Salina woman who was booked into the Saline County Jail Friday afternoon on a probation violation, faces an additional charged of trafficking contraband into a correctional institution.

The Sheriffs Office Special Response Team went into the cell of Hollie Sonnenberger Saturday evening, and recovered 25 Zanax pills that Sonnenberger had brought into the jail by concealing in a body cavity when booked in.

Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says the pills were found in her mattress and a pill bottle on the mattress. Kochanowski said it’s possible that Sonnenberger who was under the influence when the pills were found,and may have brought in 50 pills to the jail.

The sheriff says information received by corrections officers led to the discovery of the pills.
