The Thomas More Prep Monarchs were able to hold off the Southeast of Saline Trojans on Thursday night in Minneapolis. The Monarchs used a tough defense and timely three point shooting to win the game, 58-52.
TMP led the entire game and held off several surges from Southeast. Leading by as much as 15 in the 3rd quarter, the Trojans would cut that lead down to just 2 midway through the 4th quarter. However, SES was unable to capitalize on a couple key possessions down the stretch.
Nick Montgomery led all scorers with 21 points, Hunter White added 18 in the losing effort for the Trojans. SES had their best performance of the year from the free throw line, shooting 20 of 26 at the line.
SES ends their season at 11-10 while TMP (16-5) will face the Ellsworth Bearcats on Saturday. Ellsworth hit a last second shot to defeat Beloit, 37 to 35.
