Nancy Cousland, age 71, died Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Beloit, Kansas. Nancy was born September 20, 1946 in Superior, Nebraska, the daughter of Max and Muriel Hensley. She attended schools in Nebraska, Wyoming, and Kansas, and began teaching at the Girl’s Industrial School in Beloit in 1970. In 1972 she married Craig R. Cousland and two children, Jordan and Brennan, were born to them.
Nancy loved teaching, writing, reading, playing bridge, camping, refinishing furniture, and doing remodeling projects with Craig. The Denver Broncos became “her team” and she also learned to enjoy whatever sport her children and grandchildren were involved in.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Max, and her brother, Mike. She is survived by her husband, Craig; mother, Muriel Hensley; son, Jordan (Jessa) Cousland, and treasured little granddaughter, Scout of Manhattan; daughter, Brennan (Ryan) Eilert, and beloved grandsons Owen and Quinn of Beloit. Also surviving are sister-in-law Barnie Sherman of Whitney, Nebraska; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Janalee Reece of Wichita, Kansas; nieces Getana and Whitney; nephews, Ian and Preston; and great-nieces Alyssa, Aubrey, Hadley, and Delilah; and great nephew, Jack.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, March 16 at the Beloit First Presbyterian Church and private family interment will take place at a later date. Cremation has been chosen and there will be no visitation, but friends may sign the book at Roberts Family Funeral Home until 5 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Beloit Ministerial Association or the Mitchell County Historical Society. Roberts Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
