Floyd Dean Facklam

Floyd Dean Facklam, age 95, passed away on March 30, 2018 at Salina Regional Hospital. He was born September 26, 1922 to Charles and Grace (Bender) Facklam, in the family farmhouse near Enterprise, Kansas. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Facklam, his brother Kenneth (Elaine) Facklam, and son Duane (Karen) Facklam, daughter Darlene (Rod) Riffel, daughter Diana (Jerry) Rankin, and nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He attended Enterprise schools. Floyd and his twin brother Lloyd farmed with their father until marrying his beloved wife, Dorothy Dieffenbaugh on June 3, 1945. They have been married for 72 years. Floyd worked his own farm and small dairy until he moved his young family to Abilene in 1951 where he lived his entire life in the same house. Floyd was a hard worker and was proud that he was never without work for more than a day before he found his next job. He worked at Wissings Motors, Sears and Vacu Blast. Other part time jobs he worked was at Bills Apco Service Station, First Methodist Church custodian, Browns Memorial Home custodian, and First Baptist Church as custodian, and Abilene Public Schools as a substitute custodian. Floyd and his twin brother Lloyd helped his son-law Rod Flip houses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Charles, his twin brother Lloyd and son Donald.

Family visitation will be Friday evening April 6, from 5 to 7 pm at the First Baptist Church, Abilene, KS. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, April 7, 10:30 am at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jack Gilstrap officiating. Private graveside service is planned for the family at a later date.

Memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church of Abilene, Kansas, or to Dickinson County Home Health and Hospice and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
