Elden Bergstrom, age 85, of Courtland, KS, passed away on Sun., May 27, 2018 at his home in Courtland. He was born on June 23, 1932 in Jamestown, KS to Ernest & Myrtle (Peterson) Bergstrom.
He attended Dist. 93 Salt Marsh grade school until the 5th grade and then Jamestown grade school and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1950. He served in the US Army in Germany from 1953 to 1955. Upon returning from his military service, Elden worked for the soil conservation district, Martin Tractor and Ganstrom & Johnston until he went to work for the Kansas Fish & Game in 1963. He retired from Kansas Wildlife and Parks as an Area Game Manager in 1994. He married Margaret Ann Hefner on June 3, 1956 at The Baptist Church, Concordia. He was a member of American Legion Post #76. Elden enjoyed wood carving & woodworking, yard work and spending time in his garden.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, Courtland; sons, Terry Bergstrom, Courtland, Kevin Bergstrom (Heather), Wamego & Larry Bergstrom (Gloria), Concordia; grandchildren; Erik Bergstrom (Tabatha), Dea Bergstrom Novak (Mark), Danielle Haskett (Lancyio), Brett Bergstrom, Cade Bergstrom & Carli Bergstrom; 11 great grandchildren; brother in law, Bud Hefner (Della), Concordia & sister in law, Mary Smith, Concordia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nadine Collins (Robert) & brother in law, Glenn W. Smith.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thurs., May 31, 2018 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Pastor Jonathan Peppers officiating. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588 will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be 12-8 pm at the funeral home.
