Orban L. Haas, 87, passed away Saturday, June 2nd, in Abilene. He was born July 17, 1930 in the Buckeye Community north of Abilene, the son of Elmer and Winifred (Brillhart) Haas. Growing up in the area Orban attended local schools and graduated from Abilene High school with the class of 1948. On August 24, 1957 he married Shirley Maring. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. He had been employed and retired from Alco and owned and operated his own sharpening and locksmith business. Shirley preceded him in death April 7, 2015. Orban enjoyed fishing, gardening and African Violets. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Orban is survived by two sisters, Imogene Redin of Ecuador and Phyllis Nelson of Arkansas; brother Verle Haas of Kentucky; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Thursday June 7th at the Danner Funeral Home with Amanda Cormack officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairiedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 7th, from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
