Sergeant Brent Rupert gave The Salina Post an update on the results of the STEP (Special Traffic Enforcement Program) “Click it or Ticket”. From May 21-June 3 the Salina Police Department stopped 198 vehicles, wrote four speeding tickets, made one DUI arrest, issued 182 adult seatbelt citations, 1 child restraint citation, 72 other citations were issued, and four arrests were made.
The officers worked 60 hours of overtime which is paid for by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation for seat belt enforcement.
