Foster Families Needed

TFI Family Services, Inc. is a leading child welfare agency providing experience, compassion, quality
services and care. Their strength as an organization lies in the fact that they do what is best for children and families. 

They provide various types of services to the community including foster and kinship care, domestic and international adoption, counseling support and education, TIPS-MAPP training and visitation and exchange centers.

There are 7670 children in Foster Care in the state of Kansas. TFI Family Services, Inc. has 2692 foster homes across the state. In Saline County, there is 116 children in the foster care system and 51 homes

They need foster families that are willing to take children that could have behaviors from abuse and neglect, these children need care and guidance, and their families need their help.

There are several requirements for people wishing to become foster parents, Among the
requirements, people:

• Must have the ability to love, understand, care for and accept a child to whom they did not give birth
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• May be married, single, legally separated, divorced, or domestic partnership
• Must be in good physical and mental health to provide for the needs of the child
• Must have sufficient income to meet current expenses
• Must be able to provide sufficient beds and bedrooms for additional children
• Must ensure that no household member has a prior conviction of any sexual offense
• Must have a working vehicle and a telephone
• Must be a legal resident
• Must attend 30 hours of Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting or 21 hours of Deciding Together
training

Additionally, applicants and each household member, 18 years of age or older, submit fingerprints for a national criminal history records search. State training is offered to prospective foster parents at no cost. There may be some costs if foster parents need to update their home to meet state regulations. Reimbursement to foster parents is based on level of care needed for each child.
