The Saline County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two burglaries in northeast Saline County that could be connected. Captain Jim Hughes said the first burglary occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, June 15th where pneumatic tools, impact sockets, a push mower and hand tools were taken from an outbuilding at the home of Richard Lightner in the 8000 block of Mariposa. There was no forced entry, loss placed at $1200.
Then between Friday and Monday someone forced entry to a storage shed owned by the Saline County Highway Department at Old 40 highway and Simpson Road and stole a Stihl chainsaw. Loss and damage placed at $290. The storage shed is located near the Rural Fire District #5 fire station.
