Vehicles damaged early Wednesday morning

An early morning incident in the 800 block of East Wayne left multiple vehicles damaged Wednesday.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Wednesday morning a 23-year-old Salina man who was a resident of the apartment complex 821 E. Wayne reported to police that at approximately 1:20 a.m., he heard a loud banging noise and glass breaking coming from the rear of the apartment building. The resident saw two women and a man under the carport. The man had an object in his hand and began swinging it at a vehicle, the resident reported.

When the resident went out to check his own vehicle, an orange Ford Mustang drove by, then turned around and came back to where the resident’s vehicle was. The man he had seen before exited the Mustang and hit the driver’s side window of the resident’s car. The resident gave chase and the man jumped back in the Mustang and drove off.

The resident’s vehicle, a 2012 Ford Fusion, sustained $200 of damage. Additionally, a 2010 Mazda MX6 belonging to a 52-year-old Salina woman, sustained $1,500 in damage, including broken taillights, broken driver’s side window and side mirror, and a broken windshield, Forrester said.
