Because the Food and Drug Administration continues to receive reports of illness linked to a cereal the agency recalled in June of 2018, the FDA has issued the following update.
“All Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal was recalled in June 2018. Because the CDC has continued to receive reports of illnesses linked to this cereal, we are reminding consumers not to eat Honey Smacks cereal.”
According to the FDA website, the FDA, Centers for Disease Control, as well as state and local officials are investigating a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Mbandaka infections linked to Kellogg’s Honey Smacks sweetened puffed wheat cereal.
The FDA reminds consumers to throw away any Honey Smacks cereal they have in their homes. As the cereal is not supposed to be sold at this point, consumers are asked to report any Kellogg’s Honey Smacks currently being sold. Reports can be made to the FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinator in their region. To find contact information for the FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinator in your area, click here.
